The Long and the Short of it: two walks at the Pinnacle

As part of the Canberra and Region Heritage Festival, Fotpin will be holding two guided walks, for you to choose from, on the one day to introduce visitors to the delights of The Pinnacle Nature Reserve (PNR).

Short walk and treasure hunt 9-11 am

In collaboration with the Conservation Council ACT Region, John Brannan will lead a ramble around the reserve looking at the habitats of birds. Bring the kids, you never know what treasure they might find! This walk is suitable for families, is free and includes morning tea. Please wear suitable clothing for the weather, bring something to drink and some binoculars if you like.

Meet at the Dungowan St (Hawker) entrance to the Reserve.

Long walk to the River 10 am- 3.30 pm

Led by Pax, the long walk will hike from the highest point of the Pinnacle Nature Reserve down to and across the lower paddocks south of the reserve into the endangered woodlands and grasslands of the Kama Nature Reserve. The walk continues on to the Molonglo River. This walk will be challenging for length and possible fence leaping! Walkers should bring their own lunch and drinks, afternoon tea will be provided. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the expected weather.

Bookings essential: contact for more information or to make a booking.

Sunday 19th May 9 am

Greening Australia Planting Day

Fotpin and Greening Australia are hosting a Family Planting day on the Pinnacle Nature Reserve. If you like planting trees come along and help us revegetate the reserve. Help create woodland connections and establish wildlife corridors.

Meet at the Springvale Drive entrance to the Reserve near the intersection with De Salis St, Weetangera. A minibus will be on hand to get you to the planting site.

Please wear sunscreen, hats, bring water to drink and wear suitable clothes for planting such as long pants and gardening gloves.

Lunch will be provided at the close of the planting at 12.30pm.

Should be fun! See you there.
