How does groundcover affect water movement in the landscape?
Monday 16th May, 1-30 to 4 pm

[A joint event with Friends of Grasslands]

In a well-functioning landscape, rainfall enters or runs off the ground surface without eroding the soil. On this walk, David Tongway AM, a member of FOG and fotpin and a recognised expert in this field, will show us how to analyse landscape function on a slope.

Meet at the De Salis S. Weetangera entrance to the Reserve.

Please register before 15 May by emailing Ann Milligan.

Wear clothing suitable for the weather, sturdy footware and a hat. Bring water and a camera and binoculars if you wish.

ParkCare at the Pinnacle - Achievements & Challenges
Sunday 29th May, 9 to 11-30 am

Join fotpin’s record keeper Warren Bond as he points out the many changes at the Reserve since the tree plantings and other work in the 1990s by the Pinnacle Environment Group, fotpin’s predecessor. This 4 km walk will visit vantage points where photos were taken in 1991,to see the impacts of that early work. We’ll visit recent plantings at the Reserve to assess their progress and explain their purpose, discuss ongoing issues with weeds and visit some areas where we’ve made progress. Examples of erosion, rabbit control and some of the other challenges we currently face will also be viewed along the way.

Meet at the De Salis S. Weetangera entrance to the Reserve.

Wear clothing suitable for the weather, sturdy footware and a hat. Bring water and a camera and binoculars if you wish.
